Wealth is measured in many forms. Prehistorically it was simply a matter of territory and mates (wives is a modern concept). Today there are so many things that constitute wealth that it is nearly impossible to compare wealth between people. One of my favorite tunes is from “Fiddler on the Roof”: “If I were a rich man” sung by Tevye. There is a section of the song where he is singing that if he were rich; all the people of the town would come to him to ask his advice. The song then says: “and it doesn’t matter if I answer right or wrong. If you’re rich they think you really know. This philosophical point of view has been verified recently by the Maddoff scandal.
